Injured Konate replaced by Yoro in France squad

France centre-half Ibrahima Konate has been ruled out of his country's upcoming Nations League matches and will be replaced in Zinedine Zidane's squad by Manchester United's Leny Yoro, Les Bleus announced on Thursday.

"Ibrahima Konate felt pain in his knee during training and underwent a follow-up MRI scan yesterday (Wednesday). He has suffered a slight sprain to his right knee," France's coaching staff said.

The Real Madrid defender will return to his club.

Konate's withdrawal is the third from the France squad since the start of the international break on Monday, following those of goalkeeper Robin Risser and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery.

To replace the former Liverpool centre-back, Zidane has called up uncapped 20-year-old Yoro.

Former World Cup winner Zidane will oversee his first match in charge of his country on Friday away to Turkey.

After that, France will visit then host Belgium, with a clash against Italy coming in between the two meetings with their northern neighbours.
