Iganga first to bid as UPSSA opens hosting applications for 2027 Games

The Uganda Primary Schools Sports Association (UPSSA) has called upon local governments interested in hosting the 2027 National Primary Schools Games to submit their bids.
The call was made by UPSSA President William Bwambale during the recently concluded 2026 National Primary Schools Sports Association Ball Championships in Mubende.
According to Bwambale, the bidding window is still open until December this year to allow the Ministry of Education and Sports, in collaboration with the UPSSA executive, to inspect the proposed facilities.
He revealed that so far, Iganga Local Government has officially presented its bid to host the games.
"Now, the hosting rights are open to every local government. You, the sports officers, should share with the CAOs, LC5 Chairpersons, and the District Education Officers (DEOs) about the plans for hosting the games, but not ambush them," Bwambale added.
The National Primary Schools Championships comprise Ball Games, Kids Athletics, and Special Needs Education (SNE) Athletics.
This year's edition was co-hosted by two districts, with Mubende hosting the recently concluded National Ball Games, while Tororo District hosted the National Kids and Special Needs (SNE) Athletics.
The championship attracts participation from all 178 districts across Uganda, making it one of the biggest grassroots sports events in the country.
