Uganda Cranes midfielder Joel Sserunjogi says he followed his instincts in joining Uganda Premier League champions Vipers Sports Club and believes the move will be a success.

The 24-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Venoms after leaving Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club at the end of his contract.

"I'm somebody who goes with my gut feeling a lot of the time, and I feel like it's steered me in the right direction so far," Sserunjogi said. "So, I don't think it's going to be any different here. I think it's going to be a great success, and I'm really happy to be here."

Sserunjogi said he wants to help the club win more titles. "I am ready to work hard, keep improving every day, and help the team achieve its goals. I will give my best," he said.

Sserunjogi becomes Vipers' first signing of the current transfer window as the club strengthens its squad for the new season. The midfielder joins a side preparing to defend the Uganda Premier League title, compete in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, CECAFA Kagame Cup, and the CAF Champions League.

He established himself as one of the country's top midfielders during his three seasons at Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club, where he made more than 100 appearances after joining in 2023. Before moving to Lugogo, Sserunjogi played for Kajjansi United and rose to prominence during the 2022 Buganda Masaza Cup, helping Busiro win their first-ever title.

His consistent performances earned him a maiden Uganda Cranes call-up in 2024. Since then, he has featured in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and was part of the Uganda squad that reached the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship.

Sserunjogi now joins a Vipers side aiming to build on last season's domestic success under new head coach Denis Lavagne while targeting a strong campaign in continental football.

The 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on August 28, while the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League will begin on September 12.

The FUFA Big League season will start on September 20. Before then, the FUFA Super 8 tournament is set to commence on August 1, while the FUFA Super Cup between league champions Vipers SC and Uganda Cup holders Kitara FC will be played on August 23, five days before the start of the new league season.
