Miodi Aksam struck an 85th-minute winner as International University of East Africa (IUEA) edged Bishop Stuart University (BSU) 2-1 in Kasanga on Tuesday to make a winning start to their 2026/27 Pepsi University Football League (UFL) campaign.
Coached by former Uganda Cranes defender Hassana Wasswa, IUEA took an early lead when Paul Mubiru finished off a fine pass from Primo Iwroth in the second minute, sending the home fans into celebration.
The hosts held on to their slender advantage for much of the game as BSU pushed for an equaliser.

However, IUEA finally gained breathing space five minutes from time when Aksam doubled their lead in the 85th minute tapping home Gift Mutalya’s cross in the box.
BSU refused to give up and restored hope through Vianney Sabiiti, who pulled one back in the 89th minute to set up a tense finish.
IUEA, however, held firm under late pressure to secure all three points and give Wasswa a winning start to the campaign.
The UFL action continues today, with 2019 champions Uganda Christian University hosting Busitema University in Mukono.
