Rivals Walukuba Barbarians and Platinum Credit Heathens are set to renew their fierce rivalry in the group stages of the Kyadondo Rugby 7s circuit this weekend.
The highly anticipated two-day tournament marks the third leg of the National Rugby 7s Circuit and will take place on Saturday and Sunday, August 22–23, 2026, at the Kyadondo Rugby Grounds in Lugogo.
Twelve top-tier teams, divided into three competitive pools, will face off in a gruelling preliminary stage.
According to the official draws released today, August 17, 2026, Heathens will headline Pool B alongside the Walukuba Barbarians, the very team they defeated in a tense semi-final showdown at the recent Rujumba 7s in Wakiso District.
"It is quite a rough pool," Onyango stated. "All the teams in Pool B put up a great show at the Rujumba Sevens. We just have to put our best foot forward all through day one to guarantee our spot in the top eight heading into the knockout stages."
Joining Heathens and Walukuba in a stacked Pool B are the unpredictable Victoria Sharks and the battle-hardened Rhinos.
Onyango's tactical campaign will rely heavily on the availability and form of six key players currently training with the national team: Patrick Okello, Nobert Okeny, Julius Oyuk, Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Malcolm Okello, and Dennis Etwau.
Elsewhere, freshly crowned Rujumba 7s champions Stanbic Black Pirates anchor Pool A, where they are drawn against Rams, Plascon Mongers, and the Mbale Elephants.
Meanwhile, Pool C promises fireworks as heavyweights KCB Kobs clash with Toyota Buffaloes, Kampani Eagles, and former circuit champions Jinja Hippos.
