The highly anticipated Guinness Premier League Trophy tour of Uganda has been cancelled, organisers have confirmed.

The tour was scheduled to take place from October 11 to 13, 2026, marking the trophy's return to Uganda after more than a decade.

In an official statement released on October 10, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) expressed regret over the cancellation, citing "unexpected circumstances" that prevented the trophy from arriving as planned.

While the iconic silverware will not land on Ugandan soil this weekend, the football festivities are far from over. Organisers confirmed that all scheduled Guinness Matchday watch parties will proceed as planned, with fans still able to gather at designated venues to enjoy live match coverage and entertainment.

Acknowledging the disappointment felt across the football community, the Guinness Uganda team offered an apology to fans, partners, and stakeholders, while reaffirming their continued commitment to Ugandan football supporters.

The company promised direct communication with all key stakeholders regarding ongoing activations.

The trophy tour was originally announced in September as part of a three-country East African tour, with Uganda set to host the trophy after Tanzania and before Kenya. Fans had been eagerly anticipating the chance to see the iconic 25-kilogram trophy up close, with thousands expected to flock to Vision Group's head office in Kampala on Monday
