Guinness, FUFA sign 5-year deal

The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has entered a five-year partnership with Guinness as they celebrate women in football on November 29, at the Sheraton Hotel.

Under the Theme “Football for Unity and Development,” FUFA has partnered with Guinness to celebrate the women who are shining bright in the football space in Uganda.

Guinness shall inject sh110m annually for five years which will help in writing women's achievements and create awareness of women in football as a way of growing and developing the sport in the female gender.

FUFA's third vice-president Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi noted this on Wednesday at the partnership unveiling function at the Uganda Breweries Limited offices in Luzira.

According to Nakiwala, the partnership will see exceptional female footballers, coaches, referees, and the women championing the cause of women’s football in the country brought to the forefront and be celebrated.

“This partnership will not only help us shine a spotlight on women but also marks a start of great like skilling the women, promoting financial literacy, finance management, and saving so that by the time they retire from football, they have it a starting point,” she added.

Matilda Babuleka, the UBL Head of Beer noted the importance of collaboration adding that Guinness is committed to supporting the symposium.

“Inclusivity is a cornerstone of our brand, and this partnership offers us a unique platform to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to celebrating women who shine bright in a traditionally male-dominated sport,” Matilda said.

She added that the partnership is a long-standing relationship that will see the brand work closely with the federation to develop women's football in the country.END.
