Gombe Junior School and Twinbrook played out a 2-2 draw as the second edition of the Private Schools League (PSL) continued with action in the western and northern regions at Seeta Junior School ground on Saturday.
Joseph Kato’s double for Gombe and two goals by Malcom Dodo ensured both teams share the spoils in the Under-8 category of the league that has schools grouped into four regions: the Western Region having Gombe Junior School, Seeta Junior, Twinbrook, Gayaza, Bright Horizon, and Rapha School; the Eastern Region having Daffodils International School, St. Agnes Primary, Landmark School, Namirembe Parents, and St. Francis; and the Southern and Northern Regions having another 12 very competitive schools, including Kampala Parents School, Greenhill Academy, Palace Junior, and St. Catherine, among others.
Joseph Kato was on song again, scoring four times in Gombe’s second match of the day, in which they whipped Gayaza Nursery and Primary School 4-0.
In the other U-8 match, St. Francis Junior School beat Gayaza Nursery and Primary School 3-0, with Tonny Ssonko, Jeremiah Musimbi, and Elvis Gombya getting the goals as St. Francis School edged Twinbrook School 1-0 through an Aahil Kayemba strike.
In the under-10, Twinbrook School beat Gombe Junior 2-1, while St. Francis School was a 2-1 winner over Twinbrook in the under-12. After the weekend action, St. Francis School remains top of the standings with six points, ahead of Gombe, who is on four in the U-8 Western Region.
Kato leads the scoring chart with six goals. In the U-10, it is Gombe on top with six points ahead of Twinbrook and St. Francis, who are on three points each. Oscar Mwesigwa and Neithan Mubooki have top scored with two goals each in that category.
