Go-Kart racers set for fierce showdown at National Karting Championship

Go-kart racers are set to renew their fierce rivalry this Saturday during the second round of the National Karting Championship in Lubowa.

In the Pro category, Keije Victor, who narrowly overcame stiff competition from Salim Mohamad and Rashid Omar in the opening round will be out to prove that his previous victory was no fluke.

Victor posted the fastest lap time of 24.554 seconds, edging out Mohamad (24.730 seconds) and Omar (25.043 seconds).

The one-day event is expected to attract a massive turnout of participants and students, many of whom will be using the thrilling race day as a final farewell to their school holidays.

Meanwhile, in the Cadet category, Devansh Kunder aims to replicate his previous flawless performance and achieve another clean sweep. However, he faces a daunting challenge from Ahmed Husein and a hungry grid of young racers determined to end his early dominance.

In the women's category, Lucy Kakuru is still searching for a direct challenger, but she remains highly motivated to smash her own personal lap records and improve on the times she posted during the season opener.

Formula 1 Association of Uganda President Raymond Mugisha expressed strong confidence that this leg will mirror the success of the opening round.

"We successfully hosted our first circuit in Bugolobi. As part of our deliberate strategy to promote the development of local motorsport facilities, we are taking the second round to Lubowa. This helps our competitors gain vital experience racing on diverse track layouts," Mugisha stated.

The high-octane event is sponsored by Rut Cafe, Shell, and Pepsi, and marks the second of six scheduled circuits on the national calendar this year.
