Speaking from his Garuga home, the former Vice-President had a word for the celebrities too. "Ugandan artistes should learn how to create their own music sounds or beats rather than copying from other countries yet they want to compete on the international level. See a country like Nigeria."

Former Vice-President Gilbert Bukenya has urged 'old' politicians to give space for young blood.

"I am in retirement. I served the country and I am now enjoying the little I have. I advise politicians to work and when they become older, like, in their 50s, let them think of  retirement and give space for the young generation to also serve," he said in an interview at his home in Garuga on Entebbe Road on February 9, 2024.

It should be noted that Bukenya, who is now in his 70s,  did not go down without a fight as retirement age loomed, having held the second highest office in the land from 2003 to 2011.

He soon adopted a party boy lifestyle, attending concert after concert of any celebrity and dancing in cringy ways with young women.

Speaking from his Garuga home, the former Vice-President had a word for the celebrities too.

"Ugandan artistes should learn how to create their own music sounds or beats rather than copying from other countries yet they want to compete on the international level. See a country like Nigeria. Their artistes know how to create music and you can now see them on the international market. I know that the artistes want the copyright law, but they should learn how to use it," he said.

Bukenya urged them to stop fighting each other.

Additionally, he called upon social media users to act responsibly.

"Social media people, please learn discipline. How can you  announce the death of someone who is still alive? Some create tribalism through social media, which affects people and I don’t support people who misuse social media. I appeal the Government to always look for those people “ .
