The 2026 National Motocross Championship is set for an international flavour when the seventh and final round roars to life on October 25, with foreign riders and rally stars expected to add excitement to what promises to be a memorable season finale.

Leading the foreign contingent are German brothers Fabian and Nil Trosen, who have returned to Uganda for a weekend of competition and a taste of the country's vibrant motocross culture.

Fabian is expected to compete in the MX1 class, while Nil will take on the 65cc category, with the duo eager to test themselves against Uganda's finest riders.

The brothers arrived on Tuesday accompanied by their mother and will be staying at Amazon Residences in Bunga, the main event sponsors, ahead of the much-anticipated showdown.

For Fabian, the return is as much about reconnecting with familiar faces as it is about racing.

"I have been to Uganda before and I really enjoy riding with the local riders because they are friendly. Whenever I come here, I feel at home and that makes the experience even more special," Fabian said.

The German rider last competed on Ugandan soil in 2022 and is delighted to be back, with the season finale offering another opportunity to share the track with riders he has come to appreciate.

The Trosen brothers will be joined by a strong regional contingent expected from Kenya and Rwanda, further raising the stakes for the final round. Among those expected is Kenyan speed merchant Amani Amani, whose presence is likely to add another layer of competition to the day's action.

With championship honours still at stake across the different classes, the foreign entries are expected to challenge the local riders while giving fans an international spectacle to savour.

Away from the motocross track, rally drivers will also take centre stage, bringing their machines out for an exhibition expected to give fans an extra dose of motorsport entertainment.

Among the drivers expected to feature are John Semudu, Ponsiano Lwakataka, Ronald Serunjoji, Abdul Katete, Mathius Kiyega, Nasib Sesanga and Yasin Omar.

The rally stars will use the occasion to test their cars ahead of the next National Rally Championship round scheduled for October 30 in the Kyenjojo and Kamwenge areas.

Event organiser Semakula believes the combination of motocross and rallying will give fans more reasons to turn up for the season-ending spectacle.

"Bringing the rally cars into the programme will add colour and excitement to the activities we have lined up for the fans. We want to give motorsport lovers a memorable day, with something for everyone to enjoy," Semakula said.

Beyond the international visitors and rally exhibition, the October 25 event will mark the end of the 2026 National Motocross Championship campaign, with the outstanding performers in the various classes set to be recognised for their achievements throughout the season.

For the riders, it is the final opportunity to make a statement before the curtain comes down on the championship. For the fans, it promises a mix of fierce competition, regional rivalry and the spectacle of rally cars sharing the spotlight with motocross machines.

With international riders joining Uganda's homegrown talent and rally stars adding another dimension to the programme, the season finale is shaping up to be more than just the last race on the calendar.
