The Uganda Gazelles have made history at the FIBA women's AfroBasket 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda by finishing 7th out of the 12 countries.

This will sound like a dream to many people but it is true!

The Gazelles booked a 7th spot after beating Guinea 85-44 in a 7-8 classification tie at the BK Arena on Friday.

This is so far their most successful outing at the AfroBasket having lost all the matches during their debut in 1997 in Kenya before they finished 10th at the 2015 edition that was held in Yaounde Cameroon.

Jannon Otto impressed, scoring a game-high 22 points, Jane Asinde who missed the 5-6 classification match against Mozambique on Thursday due to injury added 15 points while Melissa Akullu, Hope Akello, and Rita Imanishimwe contributed 9 points each in the Gazelles winning effort.
