She Makerere makes light work of high school side Boni Consilii Girls, beating them 3-0 in a FUFA Women's Cup round of 32 game at Kaberebere grounds in Isingiro district on Sunday.

The FUFA Super League outfit used their top-flight experience to dominate the hosts, the majority of whom are lower secondary school students.

The Hussein Said-coached side first resisted the pressure in the first minutes of the game under the scorching sun, but fell back towards the end of the first half, as Winnie Babirye tapped in after captain Josephine Ndagire’s powerful shot was parried in her way by Boni Consilii custodian Justine Kembabazi.

She Makerere then put the game to bed with second-half strikes by second-half substitutes Rebecca Nakasato and Daphine Nalubowa to ease Coach Anthony Bongole’s work for a berth into the round of 16 where they will meet 2018 UCU Lady Cardinals which Winnie Babirye says they are not scared of.

“We played a good and young team that gave us some tests but we managed to beat them with experience and we are through to meet UCU in the next round, and we are going to prepare for them to bring back the 2019 glory,” Babirye said.

She Makerere became the third side to win this title in 2019 after UCU Ladie cardinals in 2018 with high school side Olila having won the inaugural edition in 2017 with Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga the defending champions.
