The opening semi-final of the NSSF KAVC International Volleyball Tournament at Lugogo produced one of the most dramatic contests of the competition so far as Equity VC of Kenya battled past their compatriots Chema VC in a pulsating five-set encounter.

Chema started brightly, taking the first set 25-22 with powerful serving and disciplined blocks that unsettled their opponents.

However, Equity responded with determination in the second and third sets, winning 25-20 and 25-22 to turn the game in their favour. The intensity of the clash kept the crowd on edge, with both sides exchanging long rallies and showing resilience in defense.

Just when Equity looked set to close the match in four sets, Chema dug deep and fought back impressively, claiming the fourth 25-23 to force a decisive tiebreak.

The final set was a true test of nerves and stamina, but Equity maintained composure at crucial moments, sealing it 15-11 to register a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

It was a contest that highlighted the growing strength of Kenyan volleyball, with both clubs pushing each other to the limit. Equity’s triumph earned them a place in the final, but Chema walked away with plenty of credit for their spirited performance that kept the Lugogo crowd entertained throughout.
