With a sh50m package from Equity Bank, of which sh20m is cash, rally driver Mustafa Mukasa has vowed to give leading drivers in the National Rally Championship a run for their money starting with the SMC Challenge Rally on Saturday and Sunday in Kyotera and Masaka districts.

Mukasa navigated by Lawrence Mwambazi in a Mitsubishi Evo 9 noted this at the function held at the Bank’s Masaka Branch where the one-year partnership was unveiled ahead of the rally.

“With this partnership, we are coming to compete and not just participate,” Mukasa stated.

“We promise wonders in this rally and years to come. In Mbarara, we were fourth, and UMOSPOC Autocross came 3rd and in this rally, we are also targeting a podium finish.”

Reynold Kibira, the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) deputy vice-president in charge of rallying lauded the bank for the timely support and urged others to join the sport.

“Motorsport offers the cheapest way for you to have visibility for your brand. It is unique because it has the vibe and following with purchasing power,” Kibira added.

Southern Motorsport president, Godfrey Mayanja urged the public and the motorsport family to support the financial institution because its support transforms the lives of many.

The bank’s head of marketing, Clare Tumwesigye noted that the bank’s policy is just not to give back to the community but to create opportunities in the communities they operate.

“Our mission is to transform the lives of people in different ways. We do it through loans and also sports and we have come a long way with sports. I assure you that as a bank we are committed to continued support of motorsport,” Tumwesigye explained.

Mukssa will face stiff opposition from thirty other drivers including Jonas Kansiime, Ronald Sebuguzi, Jas Mangat, and Joshua Muwanguzi who are targeting victory in Kyotera at the end of the rally.
