Joshua Cheptegei, Halima Nakaayi and Peruth Chemutai are all in the mix as the Wanda Diamond League crowns off a memorable season with a mouth-watering finale Saturday and Sunday in Oregon.

Cheptegei will renew hostilities with the in-form Jakob Ingrebristen, fresh off shattering the 2000m world record in what should be an explosive 3000m contest, replete with the Ethiopian quartet of Berihu Aregawi, Selemon Barega, Yomif Kejelecha, and Hagos Gebrhiwet.

Cheptegei secured 10,000m gold at the World Athletics Championships in his last outing last month, but he will have to be at his best to pick up his second Diamond League title. Ingrebristen, who has the endurance of a two-time 5000m world Champion coupled with the explosiveness of a 1500m Olympic champion will start as favourite.

Halima Nakaayi will go against all the top stars of the women's 800m, with the sensational trio of Mary Moraa, Keely Hodgkinson and Athing Mu, who won gold, silver, and bronze at the World Athletics Championships, all in the contest.

Nakaayi finished eighth at the Worlds. Peruth Chemutai finished seventh, beyond the same cast of challengers who are lined up for the Saturday's tussle.

Cheptegei and Eugene have a strong bond that stretches back 13 years when the Ugandan won the U20 World 10,000m. Last year, Cheptegei produced a rousing display in the World Athletics Championships 10,000m final on the way to winning gold.

To emerge victorious again, Cheptegei may have to produce his fastest ever race across 3000m. His personal best is 7:33.24, which is only good for seventh place.

Not surprisingly, Ingrebristen has the fastest PB.

Race winners at the Prefontaine Classic will cash in on $30,000m.
