Today is the busiest day for Team Uganda at the World Athletics Championships, with five stars, across four separate disciplines all in action.

It all starts with Halima Nakaayi and the women's 800m heats in the morning, then shifts to the women's 5000m, featuring Sarah Chelangant and Prisca Chesang early in the afternoon. Sprinting  sensation Tarsis Orogot makes his senior World Athletics Championships debut a little after in the 200m heats before Peruth Chemutai wraps it up in the women's 3000m steeplechase heats in the evening.

Put simply, Uganda's quest for more glory at this year's Championships will be significantly affected by the outcome of these outings.

Nakaayi won gold at the 2019 edition, Chemutai is the reigning Olympic champion in her discipline, while Orogot has been one of the fastest men this year in the 200m.

It's not beyond the realm of logic that another medal for Uganda could come through one of these athletes.

Yesterday, Uganda's Leonard Chemutai could not convert an  appearance in the final to a podium spot after finishing 12th in the men's 3000m SC medal race.

Tom Dradiga could only manage seventh in the heats of the 800m, failing to qualify for the semis.
