Byamukama top as the MTN Pro Tees head to the business end

Vincent Byamukama could be headed to winning the inaugural MTN Pro Tees tournament in Entebbe after he took a 2-stroke lead after the penultimate round of the sh15m kitty championship at Entebbe Club on Thursday.

Byamukama replicated his opening round score of 3-under 69, which propelled him to the top of the leaderboard, displacing overnight leader David Kamulindwa, who now trails by two strokes after his third round 2-over 73.

Entebbe professional golfer Byamukama notched six birdies, five of these on the back nine, to finish the round strongly after a shaky start that saw him open with a double bogey on the par-5 hole 1. Two other bogeys on holes 3 and 6 threatened to derail his round, but he was flawless thereafter, going on to register the second-best score (69) of the round.

Abraham Ainamani produced the best score of the round (68) alongside Bruhan Matovu, which moved him to second place, two strokes off the leader, after striking three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 hole 15, with bogeys on holes 9 and 10 as his only blemish.

Overnight leader Kamulindwa is now third, three strokes off, while Matovu is fourth, four strokes short. It is too close to call going into the last round of the first quarterly event with a total kitty of sh65m spread across the year.
