Bukedea Comprehensive Volleyball Club triumphed over Amus College Volleyball Club with a straight-sets victory (3-0) to win the Eastern Uganda Volleyball League Championship and secure promotion to the Serie B national league.
In a decisive Game 3 of the Serie C playoffs held on Sunday at Amus College School volleyball court in Bukedea District, Bukedea Comprehensive sealed both the men's and women's titles, confirming their rise to the second tier of Ugandan volleyball.
“This title belongs to everyone—the players on and off the court, the technical team, and management,” said head coach Boaz Ziana Turyamuhebwa. “Reaching the finals wasn’t easy, but we fought hard and earned our place in Serie B. Our goal now is to push through and reach Serie A.”
Bukedea Comprehensive School’s Managing Director, Prof. Jonas Gumisiriza, praised the players’ unity and skill throughout the season. “I’m impressed with how the teams performed. Now, we must focus on consistency and maintaining strong offense and defense.”

Amus College coach Nicholas Esegu acknowledged the loss with sportsmanship: “We gave it our best. In every game, there’s a winner. We’ll now focus on upcoming tournaments like USSSA, Zonal, National Ball Games II, and the East Africa Secondary School Sports Association Games.”
Vincent Ingurat, Chairperson of the Eastern Uganda Volleyball Association, urged newly promoted teams to start early preparations to avoid relegation and emphasized the importance of resource mobilization. He also encouraged tertiary institutions to join the league to help nurture student talent.
This year’s edition featured both men's and women’s teams from institutions such as Amus College, Bukedea Mission, Kumi University, Kumi Northern Division, UCU Mbale, Ngora Fighters, Tororo, and Mbale City.
