Buddo SS won the most gold medals at the just concluded Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Associations (USSSA) Elite tournament at Mbarara High School, after winning 3 of the possible 9 accolades as the three-day event climaxed on Saturday.

Buddo were double winners of the now becoming their trademark sports basketball 3x3 after beating St Mary’s College Rushoroza in both boys and girls finals.

They then won the girls' netball title after defeating improved Kawempe Moslem 42-26 to make a total collection of 3 golds.

Standard High School beat Buremba SS 3-1 in the boys' volleyball final and then recorded a 2-1 teeth-gritting boys' football final win over former Ankole region champions Ryakasinga CHE to become the second most successful side at the championship with 2 gold medals.

National girls champions St Elizabeth came top of the 5-team table with maximum points to win the girls' volleyball title while Kawempe Moslem played to a 0-0 draw against Ankole girls football champions Sheema Girls to also retain the girls' title with Kakungulu memorial winning the boys’ handball accolade.

The three-day event which started on Thursday and a curtain raiser to the USSSA 2023 schools championship, was presided over by commissioner of Physical Education and Sports (PES) Rev Can Duncans Mugumya, who also took part in awarding the winners the trophies and medals.
