Boni Consilii stuns St Noa as USSSA Elite Games commence in Jinja

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) elite games 2024 commenced on Thursday at Jinja SS and Jinja College.

The girls football campaign started with defending champions and national girls football record winners Kawempe Moslem beating St Stephen SS 4-0 in a game watched by Crested Cranes head coach Sheryl Botes and her technical staff.

Bukedea Comprehensive lost their first Game 2 0 to Jinja SS

Botes also witnessed the day’s surprise package Boni Consilii Girls Isingiro, who beat 2022 national and FEASSSA girls champions St Noa 1-0, with Rinah Aruho’s first half strike making the difference and by press time, the Isingiro based side was cruising to their second win of the day as they were leading 2-0 against St Stephen at half time.

Hosts Jinja SS overcame newcomers Bukedea Comprehensive 4-3 in another entertaining girls game.

In boys football, hosts Jinja SS again beat Bukedea Comprehensive 2-0, while Standard High Zana fell 2-1 to Jinja Progressive.

Bukedea Comprehensive showed strength in volleyball, where the boys team beat hosts Jinja SS 2-0 and tournament defending champions Standard High Zzana beat co-hosts Jinja College 2-0. And in the girls games, Bukedea Comprehensive saw off Mariam High School 2-0, Katikamu SDA beat Immaculage Girls 2-0 while Ngora saw off Jinja SS 2-0.

In Netball, Buddo SS started off with a 46-21 thumping of Jinja SS while Kawempe Moslem beat Bukedea Comprehensive 29-19.

The games that will continue tomorrow, will be climaxed on Saturday with the finals and the awards giving and official closing ceremony.
