Sportswriters under the Uganda Sports Press Association have awarded monthly winners with the Nile Special – USPA awards that have been pending since November 2022.

This was at the dinner that was attended by 30 winners at the Imperial Royale Hotel on  September 13.

The chief guest, the director of Mbogo Schools, Ndifuna Zaujja hailed USPA for being pioneers in identifying athletes, good partners in developing them, and eventually awarding them for excelling.

“This gives a level of inspiration to children and parents. I thank the coaches and USPA for promoting the athletes and also for being keen on gender equality, which is part of sustainable development. You award genuine winners and continue,” Ndifuna noted.

She said the Mbogo chain of schools is open to full scholarships for sportsmen and women.

Ndifuna was also happy with the inclusivity of the differently abled persons that were recognized by USPA.

Police sports officer and former middle distance runner Ali Ngaimoko hailed Sarah Nazziwa and Larry Feni who won monthly awards and promised them new kit for their sports.

He represented athletics monthly winners Joshua Cheptegei and Victor Kiplangat who tied for the August 2023 award and Jacob Kiplimo who won in March.

“The differently-abled athletes have touched my heart because they have challenged many athletes. I have donated to them a new kit of their training kits, jerseys, and sneakers. To USPA, all these runners have you in mind because of your publication that inspires them. You follow them and they always want to do better,” Ngaimoko noted.

On September 23, the winners of 2021 and 2022 will be crowned at the Nile Special – USPA Gala at the same venue.
