The Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) has commended Vision Group for its full support in covering the University sports.
“I want to say, that the partnership between AUUS and Vision Group has shed light on University sports in this country,” said Penninah Aligawesa Kabenge, the AUUS President.
According to Kabenge, Vision Group being the official media partner OF AUUS, the partnership has created more awareness on what surrounds university sports.

Kabenge was launching the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) four-year strategic plan that will run from 2025-2029.
During the 5th AUUS Forum held at Soroti University of Science and Technology with 22 University representatives in attendance, saw a five-year endorsement for its purpose.
“It’s with great pleasure and a profound sense of responsibility that I stand before you today to launch this AUUS Strategic Plan for the year 2025 to 2029. This moment marks a significant milestone in our collective journey towards enhancing university sports in Uganda and setting a robust foundation for the future of our student-athletes, our universities, and our nation,” said Penninah Aligawesa Kabenge, President of AUUS.
According to Kabenge, the four-year strategic plan is more than just a document, but a visionary blueprint that embodies a commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and sustainability in university sports. It also reflects the aspirations of the community and aligns with the core values of integrity, teamwork, and innovation.
“I want us to understand that the strategic plan that we have launched is structured around key objectives that are designed to drive growth, foster talents, and promote a culture of sportsmanship across all universities in Uganda,” she narrated.
A two-day interactive meeting, and the first of its kind to be held in the soil, ended up with tree planting where at least 35 different tree species were planted.
“The trees we are planting here are the sign of legacy the team is living behind for hosting this year’s AUUS Forum which is always done rotationally, and I believe it’s one way we are promoting environmental conservation and protection to help in greening the University compound,” Kabenge observed.

George Wagogo, the technical director of AUUS urged universities to follow the sports law while conducting sports events to avoid being caught up by law.
According to Wagogo, the newly enacted sports law offenses such as the use of narcotic drugs, and psychotropic drugs are not allowed in university sports.
However, Joseph Mugera, the sports tutor and lecturer in the Department of Hospitality and Natural Resources School of Science at Nkumba University raised concern over the use of divination by both players, coaches, and managers of different university clubs.
In a related development, Mustafa Nsubuga, the senior sports officer of Mountains of the Moon University advised the universities to do their sporting activities in consultation with the Department of Physical Education and Sports in the Ministry of Education and Sports to avoid operating outside the sports.
A few of the universities in attendance are Soroti, Bugema, UCU, IUIU, Gulu, Kabale, Makerere, Bishop Steuart, Victoria, Nkumba, Mountains of the Moon, and Kyambogo.
