Barely two weeks after clinching their first-ever national boys' football trophy at the recently concluded games in Lira City, Amus College School has set its sights on the forthcoming Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) games in Morogoro, Tanzania.

The achievement came following a thrilling 1–0 victory against close rivals Bukedea Comprehensive School South in the final, played at Lira Town College grounds.

Amus College coach Richard Malinga is confident that the team has the potential to perform well at the inter-regional competitions, scheduled for August 12 to 23.

"Now we are done with the national boys' trophy, which we have been chasing for the last eleven years since the school's inception in 2015. We have achieved it this year, 2026. Our next target is to win the FEASSSA trophy again, which we last won in 2024 in Bukedea District," Malinga said.

Working under the guidance of school director Patrick Isiagi, Malinga noted that Amus has consistently featured at national and international competition levels right from its inception.

"For a long time, we have longed for this achievement. We reached the final in 2024, where we lost 3–0 to St. Julian High School during the championship hosted in Masaka City. A few months later, we won our first FEASSSA trophy by beating Kitende 1–0," Malinga recalled.

"I'm happy and relieved. Throughout this journey, we have made some massive steps. We have accomplished what we have been crying for," he added.

Amus College captain Jamal Iddi Rashid attributed the victory to excellent planning, including player recruitment, a rigorous training regime, discipline, diligence in all competitions from district to national levels, teamwork, determination, support from the school administration, and solidarity from all parties involved.

"All the players were focused and determined. We were also disciplined and ready to die a little for the school. Besides all that, we had a supportive school administration," Rashid said.

Michael Okiror Kaminasi, the deputy head teacher of Amus College School, congratulated the players on their tireless effort throughout the championships.

"This trophy is a milestone for Amus College School, East Africa, the Eastern region, and the Teso region. It is the first time we are winning. We are happy for this trophy and for the management of the school. Sports is just part of Amus College School, where education is paramount. This year alone, we managed to qualify 43 students for university on government merit. We are also engaged in music. This is where you can bring your child for a holistic education," Kaminasi said.
