Hassan Alwi and his navigator Musa Nsubuga took the lead after Day One of the MPU Mbale Rally on March 27.

Driving a Ford Fiesta Proto, they won four of six stages, finishing with a total time of 35:13.1. Musa Ssegaabwe was second (35:50.0), followed by Umar Dauda (37:36.2).

The day’s stages included the 13.5km Ali Katumba, 13.16km Dusman Okee, and a 2km super special at Maluku, each run twice.

On March 28, the final day features tougher stages in Bukedea District: the 16.3km Dr. Arthur Ahimbisibwe and 12.3km Yasin Nasser stages, both run twice, ending with a power stage.

Several crews crashed out, including Mike Mukula Jnr and Walte Kibande, while Godfrey Munyegera retired with mechanical issues. Alwi leads going into the final leg.
