The 2026 National Basketball League (NBL) mid-season transfer window has seen teams strengthen ahead of a decisive second round and playoffs.
At the top of the men's standings, City Oilers and Namuwongo Blazers have led the recruitment drive with high-profile international signings.
City Oilers, the 10-time champions and current table leaders with a 12-1 record – have re-signed American point guard Patrick Rembert.
Rembert is a familiar name in the Oilers setup, having featured in their historic 2024 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Nile Conference campaign.
During that run, he averaged 15.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game across six matches, playing a key role as a floor general. His return adds experience and stability to the Oilers' backcourt as they push for another league title and prepare for high-pressure playoff games.
Namuwongo Blazers, who sit second with a strong 10-1 record, have strengthened their roster with Congolese guard Kasereka Tembo.
Tembo, who previously played for KIU Rangers and Sommet BC, is known for his long-range shooting and was among the top three-point shooters in the 2024 season.
He now reunites with fellow Congolese player Fataki Nyembo, who also joined the Blazers earlier in the season. The Blazers have also parted ways with former vice-captain Michael Makiadi.
Sommet BC have made major changes, releasing internationals Karabana Diaw, Emilagba Abolaji, and Nkulu Kaseya. They have brought in Puati Ozias Kikomba and Gatwang Thuok, with one slot still open for further reinforcement.
UPDF Tomahawks have added Bolton Rujumba (from City Oilers) and Austin Odiwuor Odhiambo (from KCCA Panthers). Veteran Gang Andrew has left the club to join Victoria Crocs.
Rezlife Saints, who finished the first round strongly in second place with a 9-2 record, have strengthened their squad with point guard Christopher Omanye.
Women's Division
Defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins have also been active after a difficult start to the second round, including a walkover defeat in their opening game. The team has been heavily affected by injuries and player absences.
Brenda Ekone remains sidelined due to injury, Shadia Nassanga is away on netball duty in Malaysia, while Evelyn Nakiyingi is in Tanzania. Despite the challenges, the Lady Dolphins have added two players: Melinda Laker has returned from loan at Nkumba Lady Marines, while Shiphrah Kiranda has joined from Kitende.
KCCA Leopards have strengthened their squad with experienced guard Zainah Lokwameri, who returns from playing in Ethiopia. She is expected to bring leadership and experience, with the club still targeting two more signings.
Angels Basketball Club, who managed only one win in the first round, have shown improvement after starting the second round with a victory over Miracle Eaglets. They have been boosted by the return of guard Martha Likicho – their top scorer in 2025 – who had initially joined Miracle Eaglets.
UPDF Lady Tomahawks have signed Maria Awidi from UCU Lady Canons, and she made her debut against Nabisunsa.
Pearl Queens have undergone major changes, releasing Penlop Amiya, Gladys Kabang, Rosiana Mungwapa, and Mercy Akumu. They have signed Kenyan veteran Okoth Alouch Belinda.
KIU Rangers, who struggled in the first round, have started the second round on a high after a walkover win against JKL Lady Dolphins. They have also signed Gladys Kabang from Pearl Queens.
The top two women's teams – UCU Lady Canons and JT Lady Jaguars – have not yet made any signings.
