Vipers defender Hillary Mukundane was one of the players dropped from the Cranes team to face Algeria on June 18 at Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon in AFCON Qualifiers.

Mukundane was one of the Vipers' best players last season and his performance clearly explains why they conceded the fewest goals in the Uganda Premier League.

He joins the likes of Allan Okello, goalkeeper Isma Watenga and midfielders Bright Anukani and Moses Opondo among others who have dropped.

After ten days of residential training in Kampala, Micho trimmed the team to 23 players that are expected to travel to Cameroon.

The squad comprises three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders, and seven forwards.

In Cameroon, they will face the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday in a friendly match.

Cranes will host Algeria in Central Africa as Namboole Stadium gets renovated.

This decision came after FUFA inspected Mandela National Stadium on April 24th and confirmed that the Stadium was not ready to host the qualifiers that resume in June.

Uganda is third in Group F with four points just like second-placed Tanzania. Algeria who are top with 12 points already qualified for the finals while Niger is bottom with two points.

The two final games of the qualifiers will also determine coach Sredojevic’s stay with the Cranes.

Against Tanzania away in Dar-es-Salaam, Rogers Mato’s curved 90th-minute winner in the return leg gave him another opportunity to continue to steer the team.
