Musitwa was abducted in broad daylight and bundled in a car. He was never seen alive again. After carrying out the murder, the killers returned to Mayuge expecting to receive payment from Tigawalana. That night, Tigawalana contacted them by phone and instructed them to wait for him at a lodge in Bugembe, Jinja, where he would meet them and settle the balance. As they waited, the group spent the night drinking alcohol, dancing and having sex in an attempt to ease the tension following the crime.
