Kyadondo Rugby Club has revived an initiative to foster teamwork and collaboration during the holy month of Lent and Ramadan.

Heathens and Toyota Buffaloes' players broke their fast together after their last training ahead of Saturday fixtures.

Emmanuel Muhangi, the club secretary the club told Vision Sport that the initiative is meant to bring cohesion and unity among the three clubs of Kyadondo.

"We had an interference with the Covid-19 outbreak which affected our bonding sessions and now that we are safe, we did think we should revive the activities. We want to make sure that we emphasize team bonding between our players, managers, and coaches even if it's for a short while after training. This initiative will continue every Tuesday and Thursday until the end of Ramadan and Lent for both the women's and men's teams," said Muhangi.

Watmon Hassan Farouk, a Toyota Buffaloes player was very excited about this initiative and shared his feelings about the team bonding and called upon other clubs to emulate Kyadondo.

"It is a great one and we feel honoured, and feel at home. All along, we have been yearning for this gesture. We all want to feel loved and cared for and this is the player version we have been talking about. This session you saw happened a long time ago before the Covid-19 outbreak. Before that, we used to have sessions and party together. I also call upon other clubs to emulate Kyadondo, these small things matter a lot to us players," Watmon said

Sarah Nahabwe of Thunderbirds was equally happy to see the initiative return to Kyandondo.

"One of our staunch members Ware Senfuka developed this idea after she felt that she could not fast in the month of lent. She felt that one way of giving back to the lord was through supporting her brothers and sisters in the Christian and Muslim fraternity during this holy period. Players go through a lot and you can't tell what they are going through, so sharing with them is the way to go. We call upon other clubs to emulate," Sarah said.
