The position of Administrative Secretary for Pallisa District National Resistance Movement (NRM) has attracted 12 applicants after it became vacant following the death of the previous holder, Jane Nangobi, who passed away in 2025.

On Wednesday, the party’s district executive committee (DEC), chaired by Derrick Orone, the NRM district chairperson and Gogonyo County Member of Parliament, conducted interviews for candidates who applied for the position.

Out of the 15 candidates who applied, only 12 turned up for the interviews that were held at Kyoga Hotel from 2pm to 5pm. Out of the 12, the three top contenders will be selected and their names forwarded to the party’s secretariat and Central Executive Committee (CEC) for final vetting and appointment.

Following the passing of Nangobi, Sam Emuron, the party’s district registrar, took over the responsibilities of the position.

According to interview scores shared, Emmanuel Oboi emerged top with 84%, followed by Emmanuel Olupot with 67.1% and Jackie Asekenye with 58%.

"Actually, for us, whoever among the three goes through will work with us for the good of our lovely NRM party," Orone said, while acknowledging all candidates who showed interest. He noted that some did not meet the basic qualifications but had zeal for the party.

The district’s NRM publicity secretary, David Apua Keddi, urged that whoever among the three advances should prioritise the party's interests, noting that the party is greater than any individual.

Ibrahim Aisu, the district’s NRM vice chairman and also Pallisa County Member of Parliament, lauded the DEC for standing firm amidst leadership hiccups.
