The presidential hopefuls if CIA had killed Gen. Idi Amin
Before Carter covered a month as president, Amin murdered Archbishop Janani Luwum. In a televised news conference on February 23, Carter reacted to Luwum’s murder by stating that Uganda’s treatment of human rights had “disgusted the entire civilised world.” Therefore, he stressed the need for additional CIA covert intelligence operations overseas, not ruling out the option of assassinating Amin.
As the CIA nurtured the idea of murdering Amin, it came up with a report entitled: The Immediate Consequences of a Successful Effort to Topple President Amin, dated June 16, 1977.
