Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among on Sunday, October 26, launched a village-to-village political mobilisation drive for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag bearer, President Yoweri Museveni, in Tororo.

Among called upon all residents to embrace the party’s strategy and ideological ideas by consolidating the existing gains, noting that more is being planned for them.

Addressing a rally at Kisoko Boys Primary School, Among expressed gratitude to the people of Tororo for the overwhelming support rendered to her during the party delegates’ conference and asked them to extend the same support to President Museveni in the 2026 general elections.

She emphasised the role of grassroots party leaders in vote mobilisation, saying that it is the reason why the party is investing heavily in launching grassroots mobilisation drives.

Among commended President Museveni for his steadfast and visionary leadership, which she said has enabled Uganda to transition from instability to sustained peace and economic progress.

She called upon the people of Tororo to rally firmly behind his candidature and consolidate the gains achieved under the NRM’s transformative leadership.

She disregarded calls for protest votes proclaimed by opposition parties, especially the National Unity Platform, claiming that the sitting government has done almost nothing.

She also appealed to the people of eastern Uganda to stop fighting Dr Tanga Odoi, the party chairperson of the electoral commission, and instead value him as a golden opportunity for the region.

She said anybody fighting Dr Tanga is “similarly an enemy to the region because that is the only share that the region has in the party.”

Earlier, she met all the losers of the parliamentary party primary elections, urging them to rally support for those who defeated them.

During the meeting, Solomon Oketcho, who lost to George Oketcho for the West Budama North constituency but had been nominated as an independent candidate, stepped down in the spirit of unity.
