Should Bobi Wine not provide for his family? What, then, is the true essence of the 'struggle'?"

However, what truly captured the attention of those participating in the live chat was Kampala's revelation about his latest acquisition: a Mercedes Benz C250. This luxury car, estimated to be valued between $48,100 and $52,200 (approximately sh183m to sh198m), stands out as quite expensive by Ugandan standards.

In today's digital age, social media serves as the hub for numerous conversations, and the anecdote I'm about to share is no exception. Over the weekend, as Ramadan draws to a close, three well-known personalities—Solomon Kampala, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine's eldest son, Aba Marcus, the son of singer Jose Chameleon—joined forces on TikTok Live for a public engagement.

The significance of Kampala's car extends beyond the vehicle itself. It points to a broader issue concerning the perceptions many Ugandans hold regarding the concept of 'struggle.' Coined by Kyagulanyi, the president of the National Unity Platform (NUP), 'struggle' was introduced to symbolise the fight for freedom from what they deem as 'Museveni's oppressive regime.'

This struggle was initially portrayed as requiring extreme commitment and sacrifice, yet the presence of leisure and luxury, such as Kampala's high-end car, raises questions about the alignment of such indulgences with the ideals of the struggle.

Hence, witnessing Kyagulanyi's son living in luxury has sparked numerous questions from the so-called foot soldiers, who have devoted their lives to enduring hardship until the fall of the 'Museveni regime.'

On one of the numerous social media platforms where the video was shared, a heated debate ensued. "He is an athlete, earning money just like any other sports athlete. Moreover, the young man is clearly focused, as evident from his conversation with Abba during the live session. Some of you in the online media sphere should comprehend that there are abundant opportunities abroad. Chameleone's son also owns a car; why don't you discuss that? Sometimes, I feel you're only seeking relevance on social media, akin to Arsenal, who lead the table but never clinch the trophy," elaborated vvipsns.

vvipsns could indeed raise a valid point. It's plausible that with the vast opportunities available abroad, Kampala could have capitalised on them, especially considering his status as an athlete, given the substantial pay athletes receive in those regions. However, tariq_saidi_salah raises an essential question. “As a leader of a national movement striving for change, what message are you conveying to the millions of people who place their trust in you?”

Another segment of Ugandans found it amusing how Kampala downplayed his achievement when he referred to his Mercedes Benz as a "small Benz." "And he called it a small Benz," remarked Nafuna Kate. In response, SARAHPOWERZ expressed, "I know, right? I burst out laughing during the live when he described it as a 'small Benz.' It was hilarious! I don't even own one yet, so it's quite funny.

While some individuals were prompt to highlight how Kyagulanyi could afford a car for his son, "NDOWOOZA kitawe omuyita munaku muno Bobiwine became rich at 20 years so his kids are planned kids go and work plan for your kids too temutwasamila," remarked Tumusiime Iman. It's also worth noting that acquiring cars in Europe isn't as challenging, and moreover, Kampala's father can afford the car for him.

Has Kyagulanyi lost his way in the struggle, or is he simply behaving like any other normal human being who can provide support and desire good things for his people? We don't have all the answers.
