Singer Fik Gaza has been released following a short stint in jail in Saudi Arabia.

He was arrested on April 23 shortly after landing in the Middle Eastern country.

There have not been clear reasons why the singer, who had gone there to perform, was detained. However, some reports have indicated that Gaza, real name Shafiq Dangote, was netted over alleged visa and working permit issues.

Fellow musicians such as Ykee Benda and Bobi Wine had condemned his arrest.

Fik Gaza took to his X on Friday, April 26, to express his gratitude for the support he was accorded while incarcerated.

"I am free. Thanks to everyone who worked hard to get me out of jail. Thanks everyone. Thanks, Ugandans, for loving me. Your love means the world to me;" he stated.
