President Yoweri Museveni and the chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has summoned the Party Caucus members to State House Entebbe. The meeting will be held Friday afternoon.
According to the NRM Parliamentary Caucus spokesperson Brandon Kintu, the members are scheduled to meet the President to, among other issues, discuss issues that were raised from the recently concluded party primaries.
“The last time we met the President, there were so many issues that members raised, but we did not discuss some of them. His Excellency agreed that we should meet again when the Tribunal has completed its work and iron out some of the issues,” Kintu said.
Sources also informed New Vision Online that the President has also summoned members of the party's Central Executive Committee. This will be the Committee’s’ first meeting since the elections last month.
Sources told New Vision Online that during the meeting, the President will unveil the names of the five prominent nominees.
Among the suspected nominees is Rebecca Kadaga, who lost the position of the National Vice Chairperson, female. During the campaigns, CEC had requested one of the ladies to step down for the other. It was agreed that whoever steps down would be nominated as a presidential special nominee. The two ladies, however, declined the offer and preferred that the matter be taken to the delegates conference for voting. Among beat Kadaga by a landslide.
