As the endorsement for Gen. Muhoozi Kanierugaba’s Presidential bid intensifies, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has hit 6.4 million signatures in just six weeks.

In a statement released by Frank Mwesigye, the PLU media coordinator at the Naguru offices, he revealed that in just one and a half months since the launch of the endorsement of Gen. Muhoozi, the PLU secretariat and the office of the National chairman have collectively mobilised 6.4 million endorsement signatures in support of Gen. Muhoozi’s presidential ambitions.

He noted that the endorsements have been collected through both online submissions via the organisation’s official website and physical signatures in endorsement books distributed across the country.

“This achievement marks significant progress towards fulfilling our National Chairman’s request to collect 20 million endorsement signatures by September 2027,” Mwesigye said.

He revealed that from the Northern Region, 1,810,400 signatures have been collected; 1,702,100 signatures from Eastern Uganda; 1,543,000 signatures from Western Uganda; and 1,400,220 signatures from the Central Region.

Mwesigye noted that with this momentum, PLU is optimistic that they could collect 25 million endorsement signatures by early March 2027, which would surpass their initial target well ahead of the September deadline.

“Our projected target would also exceed Uganda’s reported 21,649,067 registered voters for the 2026 general elections,” he added

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the supporters across the country and the PLU leadership for their tireless mobilisation efforts and for making the achievement possible.

“Let us keep the momentum rolling as we work towards our target. No force on Earth can stop an idea whose time has come,” Mwesigye said.

At a similar endorsement activity at the PLU offices in Naguru today, Michael Nuwagira Kaguta, aka Toyota, the national vice chairperson of PLU, flagged off youths to go and mobilise for Gen. Muhoozi.

Addressing the media and the youths, Nuwagira noted that as a national leader of PLU, his key role is to guide you to become responsible citizens and I encourage you to participate in productive activities, Nuwagira said, adding that Uganda belongs to all its citizens.

He noted that as youths, there is a need to continue progressing what the NRM party has not managed to accomplish in the past years.

“As a young generation, you need to protect the peace that you currently have. We had a chance to see some wars, but a youths, you must protect this peace,” Nuwagira said

He appealed to the youths to maintain discipline as they seek endorsements for Gen. Muhoozi.

“I have seen many people engaging in social media abuses and fights. As PLU, we do not encourage indiscipline,” Nuwagira said that as they seek endorsement, they also need to publicise the different poverty eradication programs that the NRM government has put in place.
