KAMPALA - The National Vice Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Michael Nuwagira, popularly known as Toyota, has launched a door-to-door campaign in Kampala to mobilise support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The campaign was unveiled at Bat Valley Theatre following a meeting with various National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders from all five divisions of Kampala: Nakawa, Makindye, Rubaga, Central, and Kawempe.
Sophia Kenyanyi, the PLU Vice Chairperson for Kampala, welcomed Nuwagira’s initiative, saying moving door-to-door will help identify the real challenges faced by city residents.

Nuwagira also called on all NRM leaders across Kampala to remain and be organised and unified, insisting that they PLU, and NRM have structures that the Opposition does not have.
She noted that addressing the electorate's concerns will strengthen President Museveni’s support in the capital.
At the beginning of the presidential campaigns, the Patriotic League of Uganda, in partnership with the NRM, also launched a joint mobilisation drive dubbed “Tuko Pamoja”, aimed at boosting support for President Museveni ahead of the 2026 polls.
Nuwagira emphasised that he and other PLU members will traverse Kampala, engaging residents directly and rallying them to vote for President Museveni.
During the meeting, several members of the National Unity Platform (NUP) announced their defection to PLU and were welcomed to PLU amid cheers and jubilation.

“Let us support each other. After voting for President Museveni, tick the bus for other positions. We need more MPs, mayors, and councillors in Kampala,” Kenyanyi said.
“The door-to-door or home-to-home strategy also helps leaders to know the challenges of their people, which can easily help the government come up with relevant interventions,” Nuwagira remarked.
He also called on all NRM leaders across Kampala to remain and be organised and unified, insisting that they PLU, and NRM have structures that the Opposition does not have.
“Let us support each other. After voting for President Museveni, tick the bus for other positions. We need more MPs, mayors, and councillors in Kampala,” Kenyanyi said.
