Two local council three chairpersons and 52 parish councillors have already secured victory in the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s primary elections in Kaberamaido, going unopposed as the party went to the polls, Thursday.
District NRM registrar Isaac Ojade confirmed that the incumbent LC3 chairpersons from Oriamo and Kobulubulu sub-counties returned unopposed.
Patrick Epilu, the Oriamo LC3 chairperson, recently crossed from the FDC to the NRM after Jeremiah David Eyera relinquished the party flag for him. His Kobulubulu counterpart, Moses Esemu, also sailed through without a challenger.

Elections will still be held in Ochero and Kaberamaido town councils, as well as the sub-counties of Aperkira, Okile, Ochero, Kaberamaido and Alwa. Ojade said 52 parish councillors have emerged unopposed, while voting will proceed for 59 others from a total of 111 nominated.
All election materials were dispatched on Thursday morning after a briefing between the registrar and the district security team.
Ojade said ballots for special interest groups, including youth, older persons and persons with disabilities, would be cast first, followed by women and directly elected councillors.
The polls will also see three aspirants compete for the NRM flag after defecting from other political affiliations.
These include Ochero mayor Raymond Enyaru, who left his independent status to face Timothy Apachu, and Joseph Eyoku, a former FDC member seeking to represent Abirabara parish in Aperkira subcounty council.
District police commander David Otabong said security has been reinforced, with officers deployed to each sub-county registrar and additional teams assigned to hotspots.
Vehicles have been stationed to support coverage across the sub-counties.
