The National Unity Platform (NUP) electoral management committee has completed vetting the long-awaited list of parliamentary flag-bearers for the 2026 General Election.
A booklet containing the names was handed over to party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu ahead of his first campaign rally in Jinja.
Committee chairperson Harriet Chemutai thanked the party for entrusting them with the task, noting that they had selected the right candidates to represent NUP.
Meanwhile, NUP seceretary general David Lewis Rubongoya said they have instituted a four-man committee to listen to any petitions which may arise.
The NUP electoral management committee officially ended its week-long vetting process for its parliamentary flag-bearers on September 21, 2025.
Committee’s chairperson Harriet Chemutai on the same day asked the aspirants who will miss the party card to rally behind the candidates the party will choose to carry its flag in the different constituencies across Uganda.
The biggest Opposition party, led by Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, started the vetting of the MP aspirant from Wakiso district, West-Nile and Kigezi region on September 15.
