National Unity Platform party deputy president for Northern Uganda, Dr Lina Zedriga, has been produced in Gulu Magistrate’s Court via Zoom on allegations of inciting violence.
Her social media team said on Tuesday (February 17) that she had been transferred overnight from Luzira Women’s Prison in Kampala to Gulu Women’s Prison.
The team also posted pictures showing Zedriga appearing in a virtual court session.
One of her lawyers, Salim Hadad, said her client complained that the video link was unclear and requested to appear in court in person.
The Gulu Chief Magistrate, Augustine Alule Koma, ruled in favour of Zedriga and ordered prison authorities to produce her at 1:00pm after the state attorney, Patricia Edyedo, did not object to the application.
The state alleges that in the month of December 2025, at various places in northern Uganda, including the districts of Gulu, Amuru, Omoro, and Nwoya, Zedriga incited people to do an act of violence, to wit, attack the supporters of the National Resistance Movement, a political party, an act based on the reason of their political opinion.
The state attorney said on Tuesday that the matter was still under investigation and requested a mention date.
Zedriga, however, denies the charges.
“We demand the immediate release of Mama Lina! She is not a criminal,” her team wrote on her social media account of X, formerly Twitter.
On February 6, 2026, Zedriga was arraigned in the same court without the knowledge of her lawyers and sent on remand.
This was after she went missing after allegedly being picked up from her home in Kyetume B, Gayaza, Wakiso district by security personnel on January 16, 2026.
By the time of writing this story, she was yet to be produced in court physically.
