NRM's Todwong makes last call for massive turnout behind party flag bearers in LC I elections

KAMPALA – National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretary General Richard Todwong has made a final appeal to party members across the country to turn out in large numbers on Tuesday and vote only for NRM flag bearers in the Local Council I (LC I) chairperson elections.
In his eve-of-poll message, Todwong urged supporters to build on the momentum from the recently concluded Village Women Council elections, where the ruling party registered overwhelming victories nationwide.
"Tomorrow is another important day for our party and our country. I call upon every NRM supporter to wake up early, go to the polling station and vote only for the NRM flag bearer," Todwong said.
He described the LC I elections as crucial in strengthening the party's grassroots structures, noting that village chairpersons are the first point of contact between government and citizens and play a vital role in mobilising communities, maintaining peace and supporting the implementation of government programmes.
"The LC I chairperson is the leader closest to the people. This is the person who mobilises the community, safeguards peace and ensures that every village benefits from the development agenda championed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM," he said.
The Secretary General thanked party members for delivering decisive victories in the Village Women Council elections, saying the results reflected Ugandans' continued confidence in the NRM and its leadership.
He, however, cautioned against complacency, saying the party's focus must now shift entirely to securing victory in every village during the LC I polls.
Todwong also appealed for unity among party members, reminding those who did not secure the party flag that internal competition had ended.

Todwong also tasked district, constituency, parish and village leaders to sustain mobilisation until the last vote is cast, stressing that every vote will be critical in consolidating the party's grassroots leadership.

"Let our villages be awash with the yellow spirit. Together, we have won before, and together, we shall win again," he said.
