Supporters of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party say they have organised a mega rally dubbed “YogaYoga Jajja Victory Rally” to celebrate President Yoweri Museveni's re-election victory.

The rally is scheduled to take place on March 13, 2026, at the Kampala city-based Kololo Independence Grounds, with President Museveni expected to attend as the chief guest.

The development follows the Electoral Commission on January 17, 2026, declaring NRM's flag-bearer Museveni, 81, the winner of the elections with 7,946,772 votes, representing 71.65% of the total valid votes. His closest challenger, Robert Kyagulanyi of the National Unity Platform (NUP), came second with 2,741,238 votes (24.72%) in an eight-candidate race.

It also follows the Supreme Court on February 26 declaring  Museveni as the validly elected President of Uganda after former presidential candidate Robert Kasibante's application for withdrawal of the petition challenging  Museveni's re-election was allowed by the Supreme Court justices.

The party plan was revealed during a media briefing at the Naguru-based State House Local Content Unit head office in Kampala, where officials outlined preparations for what organisers say will be a massive gathering of NRM supporters from across the country.

Special presidential assistant on local content Aminah Mukalazi said the rally will serve as a celebration of the President’s victory as well as a show of solidarity from supporters who credit the NRM leadership for Uganda’s stability and development.

“This rally is intended to bring together supporters of President Museveni to celebrate his victory and reaffirm their support for his leadership,” Mukalazi said.

She explained that mobilisation efforts are already underway in different regions, with youth groups, entrepreneurs, community leaders and supporters expected to travel to Kampala to attend the event.

“We are seeing great enthusiasm from supporters across the country. Many Ugandans believe in the leadership of President Museveni and want to come together to celebrate the progress that Uganda has achieved,” she said.

Mukalazi said the rally will not only be a political celebration but will also highlight the role of local content in Uganda’s economic transformation.

“As the State House Local Content Unit, our mandate is to ensure that Ugandans benefit from investments and development projects in the country. During this rally, we shall also showcase the achievements of local enterprises and the opportunities available for Ugandans,” she said.

She added that the event will also serve as a platform to encourage young people to take advantage of government programs aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and job creation.

“President Museveni has consistently emphasised wealth creation and self-reliance. This rally will also remind Ugandans about the importance of participating actively in the country’s development,” Mukalazi said.

Ahamed Nkono, a legal officer at the State House Local Content Unit, said organisers are working closely with relevant authorities to ensure that the rally complies with the legal framework governing public gatherings.

“We are co-ordinating with the relevant institutions to ensure that the rally is conducted in an organised and lawful manner,” Nkono said.

He said the event is expected to draw thousands of supporters, making it one of the largest gatherings organised by NRM supporters in recent months.

“This is a celebratory rally meant to appreciate the leadership of President Museveni and to bring together supporters from across the country in a peaceful and organised environment,” Ahamed said.

According to him, the rally will also provide an opportunity to educate participants about the work of the State House Local Content Unit and its role in promoting Ugandan participation in major national projects.

“Our unit focuses on ensuring that Ugandans are prioritised when it comes to employment, supply of goods and services, and participation in development initiatives,” he said.

Opportunities

Ahamed added that such events help create awareness among citizens about opportunities that exist within government programmes.

“Many people are not aware of the various opportunities available to them. Through such engagements, we are able to share information and encourage citizens to take advantage of these initiatives,” he said.

Moses Nyabakwiri Kasharazi, Private Secretary at the State House Local Content Unit, said preparations for the rally are progressing smoothly, with organisers working closely with mobilisers and leaders in different districts.

“We have received an overwhelming response from supporters across the country who are eager to attend the rally,” Kasharazi said.

He said the organisers expect thousands of participants to converge at Kololo for the event.

Kasharazi confirmed that President Museveni has been invited to attend the rally as the guest of honour.

He added that the rally will feature various activities, including speeches, entertainment and exhibitions showcasing local businesses and youth initiatives.

“This will be more than just a rally. It will also highlight the achievements of Ugandans who have benefited from government programs and the opportunities that continue to emerge,” Kasharazi said.

Maintain discipline

Organisers urged supporters planning to attend the event to maintain discipline and ensure that the celebrations remain peaceful.

“We encourage all supporters to come and celebrate responsibly. The spirit of this rally is unity, gratitude and patriotism,” Kasharazi said.

Mukalazi also urged Ugandans to remain committed to supporting government programs aimed at improving livelihoods.

“Our message to Ugandans is to continue supporting initiatives that promote local content, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment,” she said.

She said the rally represents an opportunity for supporters to demonstrate their appreciation for the leadership of President Museveni and the vision of the NRM government.

“The ‘YogaYoga Jajja Victory Rally’ will be a moment for supporters to celebrate the achievements of the NRM and renew their commitment to Uganda’s continued progress,” Mukalazi said.
