The elections of Nyarushanje sub-county NRM league seat heated up after one of the candidates withdrew, leaving two NRM members of parliament aspirants for Rubabo county to contest for the seat.
Bernard Kamugisha withdrew his candidature in favour of Mathius Mwesigwa Rwabugumi, who is eyeing the Rubabo NRM parliamentary flag to contest with David Ndindirize, the incumbent NRM sub-county Chairperson, who is also eyeing the same seat.
The election of the two giants started at 4:05 pm after the conclusion of polls of all leagues at sub-county level, had David Tushabomwe Ndindirize polled 270 votes against 159 for Mathius Mwesigwa Rwabuguma, who is also district councillor for Nyarushanje sub-county.
Fuderi Begumisa was elected vice chairperson after trouncing Bernard Kamugisha with 234 votes against 167 votes.
Bruno Mujuni was elected secretary general, and Andrew Byomukama and Andrew Niwabaine were elected Publicity and Finance secretary, respectively.
Jolly Mashaija also retain her seat as sub-county NRM chairperson women's league.
The sub-county registrar Narasisio Kikoreere said the elections were transparent, free and fair.
