The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has got a permanent office for Busoga region.
The Mayuge district-based office was commissioned on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, by National NRM chairperson President Yoweri Museveni. The newly constructed party office in Mayuge district is part of Museveni's ongoing campaign trail across the Busoga region.
The office in Katwe village in Mayuge town council is expected to serve as the NRM’s permanent regional headquarters in Busoga. It sits on a 100 by 75 ft titled plot of land donated by Bunya West Member of Parliament Aggrey Henry Bagiire.
President Museveni accompanied by First Lady Maama Janet Museveni cuts the tape as he opens Mayuge district NRM office in Mayuge town on Wednesday.
President Museveni, accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, made a stopover to commission the office en route to his final campaign rally of the day.
He was joined by senior party leaders, including NRM vice-chairperson for the eastern region Calvin Echodu, NRM secretary general Richard Todwong, and Third Deputy Prime Minister, also Mayuge Woman MP Rukia Nakadama Isanga.
In a symbolic gesture marking the official opening, the NRM Presidential candidate for the 2026 general elections cut a yellow ribbon before touring the facility. He commended local leaders for their commitment to strengthening party structures at the grassroots.

After the commissioning, the President proceeded to a campaign rally where thousands of supporters had gathered. He reiterated his message of peace, development, wealth creation, job creation, and improved education as key pillars of the NRM’s 2026–2031 Manifesto.
The new party office is expected to play a central role in coordinating NRM activities in the region ahead of the 2026 General Election, reinforcing the party’s organisational presence and mobilisation capacity in Busoga.
