KAMPALA - The media fraternity is grieving the death of Veteran radio presenter, Alex Ndawula, who passed on Monday at Nsambya Hospital.

Many journalists and radio presenters have described Ndawula as a star of private FM stations in Uganda.

The Namasagali College product fed us off his loud, controversial, sometimes abrasive style. 

Many loved his Breakfast Show, but it was the Saturday Night Dance Force that seemed to bring the best out of him. 

We might have had several images/sounds of DJ Alex's life in the limelight, but a few will stick with us: His gap-toothed grin, his grey-haired dreadlocks and of course Dddaaaa ddaaaa Ddaannce Force.

“Oh Alex Ndawula, one of my radio god-parents, really so sad to learn of your passing. The nuggets you shared with me every weekend before and after your shows will forever remain with me. 

Above all, you remained and will always be a class act, big bro. God rest your soul, legend. Deepest condolences to Alex Ndawula’s family and loved one,” Joy Doreen Biira, a journalist wrote.

“A legend has fallen. rest in peace brother. There will never be another titan like you on the airwaves,” James Onen aka Fatboy, said.

“Thank God for sharing such a powerful, bold and excellent talent with us all these years. In my first months at Capital FM Uganda, Alex taught me the hacks of standing out as a radio presenter. Thank you. May angels receive you. RIP,” said Flavia Tumusiime.

“I will always remember your loud mouth! I will always remember our arguments. I will always remember that you believed in me! Our drunk nights now mean so much! They always did! It's just that now we cannot reminisce anymore. Rest Easy, my brother! The Most High receive you and forgive you,” Lungfishman Lwanga.

“I listened to him when I was in P7, finished school, and joined him in the same workplace. He had mastered his craft; radio was his life. May his soul rest in peace,” Enock Audrice Nsubuga.

“Rest in peace mukwano Alexander Ndawula. Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us. You were one of the realest people I have ever met and we shall miss you dearly,” Lucky Mbabazi, a radio presenter.

“Rest in Peace Alex Ndawula, the best DJ of all times,” notes Sudhir Byaruhanga, a television journalist.

Political leaders also mourn

“Thank you for the memories, Alex Ndaula the true king of radio! My sympathies go to your family, the Media fraternity, and all those you touched through your Golden voice. May your soul find eternal rest,” Anita Annet Among, the Speaker of Parliament wrote on her twitter handle.

“Thank you for the good times DJ Alex. I remember those days I used to almost sleep in our banana plantation every Saturday night because it was the only spot where I could get Capital fm to listen to Dance force 

in Bitereko. You brought Kampala close to us. RIP Legend,” Thomas Tayeebwa, the deputy speaker said.
