The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries in Kwania constituency registered low voter turnout and delayed arrival of electoral materials.
NRM went to the primaries today, July 17, 2025, to elect flag bearers for Members of Parliament in the 447 villages in the district.
Although voting was scheduled to officially commence at 10:00am, some polling stations such as Akaidebe village, recorded minimal presence of voters by 12:00am.
Similarity, only 10 voters had turned up for voting at Baradu polling stations in Atongtidi sub-count by midday, out of 121 registered voters at the polling station.
However, the same time, NRM electoral commission officials had not yet arrived at several stations, further delaying preparations.
According to the party’s electoral guidelines, the exercise was expected to begin with the verification of registered party members, followed by lining up behind preferred candidates by midday.
The contest for the party flag bearer in Kwania county has attracted three candidates Tonny Eron, Patrick Nelson Adupa and incumbent MP Tony Ayo.
Patrick Alele attribute the low voters’ turnout to lack of sensititation and voter's education.
Patrick Nelson Adupa Alem, one of the candidates battling for the NRM flag and two-time MP aspirant, blamed the poor turn to lack of sensitisation and greed for money.
