Incumbent Hoima District Woman Member of Parliament (MP) Harriet Businge has lost the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag.

Businge lost the primaries to Beatrice Wembabazi aka Teacher Mummy.

The long-awaited results were announced several days after the July 17 polls on the night of Monday, July 21, 2025, by NRM electoral commission chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi, while at NRM offices in Kyadondo in Kampala.

According to the election results, Wembabazi polled 13,795 votes, representing 39%, while Businge garnered 11,407 votes (32%). Suzan Asiimwe emerged in the third position with 10,337 votes representing 29% of the total votes cast.

Initially, Hoima district NRM registrar Joseph Kutegeka had declared two winners for the same seat.

On July 17th, 2025, Kutegeka had initially announced Beatrace Wembabazi, also known as Teacher Mummy, as the winner with 19,598 votes (44.8%).

According to the election results, Wembabazi polled 13,795 votes, representing 39%.

Her closest rival, Harriet Businge, the incumbent MP, had polled 13,844 votes (37.8%), while a third candidate, Susan Asiimwe, received 10,225 votes (23.3%).

However, shortly after the declaration, Kutegeka reversed his position and announced Businge as the winner, assigning her the same vote count—19,598 (44.8%)—that he had initially attributed to Wembabazi.

Wembabazi disputed the election results and petitioned the NRM Electoral Commission, chaired by Dr Tanga Odoi, following the irregularities in the elections.

Register arrested

Meanwhile, Albertine region Police say they are investigating two National Resistance Movement (NRM) registrars over alleged forgery and falsification of results in recently concluded party primaries for the parliamentary seat.

Region Police spokesperson Julus Hakiiza told New Vision Online on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, that Police were holding Hoima district NRM registrar Joseph Kutegeka, 70, and his Kakumiro district colleague, Ngozaga Byaruhanga.

Kutegeka's arrest came after the Hoima district security committee convened a meeting on Saturday and resolved and instructed the Police to arrest him and his data entry officers.
