Police in Soroti district have arrested four suspects in connection with the assault of Soroti County MP, Patrick Aeku, during last week’s NRM parliamentary primaries.
The incident occurred on July 17, 2025, at PAG polling station in Omodoi parish, Ocokican sub-county, where MP Aeku was reportedly attacked while overseeing voting activities.
According to Soroti District Police Commander Moses Olang, the four suspects currently in custody are: Simon Opio, 45, a resident of Awoja village, Acoboi parish, Gweri sub-county; Paul Okwii, 28, from Gweri village, also in Gweri sub-county; Simon Okwii, 28, from Madera village, Northern Division, Soroti city; and Emmanuel Elosu, 38, a resident of Omukunyo village, Adacar parish, Asuret.
The case has been formally registered under CRB 163/2025. The suspects are currently being held at Katine Central Police Station as investigations continue.
