Defend NRM legacy of peace, development, Museveni tells Ugandans

“Even with tarmac roads and electricity, poverty can still be waiting for you at home. Development without wealth is meaningless. Wealth is your personal responsibility—whether as a family or a company,” Museveni said, to loud cheers from the Otuke crowd.

LANGO - President Yoweri Museveni has rallied Ugandans to defend the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) legacy of peace, development, and transformation.

The President, who is also the ruling party’s flagbearer for the 2026–2031 term, made the call on Thursday, October 2, 2025, as he stormed Lango region with two major rallies in the districts of Alebtong and Otuke.

Addressing crowds at Aloi Primary School in Alebtong and later at Orum Primary School in Otuke Town Council, the President said while the NRM government has secured peace and delivered key infrastructure over the past four decades, the next phase must focus on household wealth creation.

“Even with tarmac roads and electricity, poverty can still be waiting for you at home. Development without wealth is meaningless. Wealth is your personal responsibility—whether as a family or a company,” Museveni said, to loud cheers from the Otuke crowd.

The rallies—part of the NRM’s nationwide campaign trail—drew thousands of enthusiastic supporters, many clad in yellow, waving placards and singing victory songs.

In Otuke, which narrowly missed delivering 80 percent of the votes to Museveni in 2021, local leaders promised to raise that figure to 90 percent in 2026.
