Busoga urged to turn up in large numbers for LC1 elections

As Ugandans head to the polls Tuesday to elect Local Council (LC) 1 chairpersons, former Kampala Capital City Authority executive director Dorothy Kisaka has urged citizens, particularly the people of Busoga, to turn up in large numbers and participate in the village elections.
Kisaka, who also serves as the NRM Secretariat’s Busoga sub-region coordinator, called upon NRM supporters to remain united and focused as they vote for the party flag bearers in a bid to help the party secure victory across all village structures in the Busoga sub-region.
She said although there were some irregularities in the previous internal party elections, NRM members should put aside their differences and support the party candidates.

She encouraged voters to turn up at polling stations by 7:00 am and participate in the voting process.
Jinja City NRM chairperson Edwin Lufafa said President Museveni is looking for people he can work with in the NRM, starting from the grassroots village level. He said his hope lies in NRM flag bearers.
He asked members to forgive past grievances, despite lingering bitterness from parliamentary and councillor elections in their areas. He urged them to stand firmly and support candidates carrying the NRM flag.
He appealed to NRM members to avoid internal sabotage and support their colleagues without undermining them.

After the Mpumudde meeting, Kisaka proceeded to Nakalama subcounty in Iganga district and Bukanga subcounty in Luuka district, where she met NRM members and delivered the same message of unity and support for NRM flag bearers in the LC1 chairperson elections.
In Nakalama, Iganga district, NRM Elders Council chairperson Polly Ssempa urged the flag bearers to mobilise voters to support and elect them.
Other Busoga leaders who have been moving around spreading the same message from the NRM Secretariat include former East African Legislative Assembly MP Bernard Mulengani, Mark Ocen, Julius Khainja, Sarah Mpongo and Don Bwana.
